look ma, no L plate..

no matter what the instructors said how good you're driving is, or even how good you think your driving is when it sucks. please becareful. this is my practical lesson on the road without the L-plate but with real responsibilities.

the spiffy little blue card that Traffic Police sent you came with a paper. on it, the message that 'driving, its never really just about you.' just on somehow registered as another government ad.
today, that particular message got drummed into me, loud and clear.
nevermind the embarrassment of horlanding when you're supposed to lead, nevermind i am not familiar with roads and took the early exit. nevermind, arriving later than those whom you're supposed to lead.

when you're behind the steering wheel, just do what you're supposed to do. drive. dont try to navigate especially if you're not sure yourself.
thats what vehicle commanders are for in the army.
i drove past 2 traffic lights that were in close proximity, while just taking my eyes off the road
and onto the right looking for an opening that looks familiar. it was close, traffic's light, right.
i am just damn fortunate no one strayed off, nor a pedal-pressing-happy guy from the slip road was there at them moment.
what would embarrassment mean, or being late mean, when you beat the god damn lights and kill someone, a child? a son? a parent? someone else's everything?

for goodness sake, for those lucky enough not to experience something like this or have yet to start driving, really. its never just about you. you dont have to speed to kill someone, you just have to take your eyes and mind away for that moment, and you would have succeeded.

and yes, i guess this does not apply to just recommending a friend somewhere new to eat. never ever lead with just the destination in mind, lead only when you will be there for the journey till the end of the road.

i am sorry to my friends who waited patiently and my 2 unlucky friends in the car.
thanks for being so understanding and yes, humorous.

voyeurism.

i lied, i have so much to ask.

trying to steal glimpses of you dozing off, smiling, talking and dazing throughout the night. i think you caught me a few times but its worth it.
because i find myself smiling to those memories of you.

Get to know yourself better

Your view on yourself:

You are intelligent, honest and sweet. You are friendly to everybody and don't like conflict. Because you're so cheerful and fun people are naturally attracted to you and like to talk to you.

.ey, no, people are not naturally attracted to me. hahah..

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:

You like serious, smart and determined people. You don't judge a book by its cover, so good-looking people aren't necessarily your style. This makes you an attractive person in many people's eyes.

. -_- yeah attractive to my dog who lusts after my socks for the treats.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:

You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you meet that person.

. i hope so..

The seriousness of your love:

Your have very sensible tactics when approaching the opposite sex. In many ways people find your straightforwardness attractive, so you will find yourself with plenty of dates.

. again, the only person or rather, animal who does that is the dog, Heidi. and again, its for the treats. hahaha

Your views on education

Education is less important than the real world out there, away from the classroom. Deep inside you want to start working, earning money and living on your own.

.ah yes, i want to start working but education is important too

The right job for you:

You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.

.fwah, you're right. haha..

How do you view success:

You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.

.how true man..

What are you most afraid of:

You are afraid of things that you cannot control. Sometimes you show your anger to cover up how you feel.

.this is quite accurate too man.. in particular, i am afraid of not being capable of providing for my family a good life.

Who is your true self:

You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve

.ah, actually people ask me for dirty jokes more often. i think that counts as comments too right =D. . ahh the latter part is true again man..

- SLE towards TPE -

someone behind, "ey, we go chalet do what ah?"
peter, "duno leh."
me, "ya, i also duno, bbq mah."
someone behind, "wah lau, you lah, so early meet for what?"
.... "for what."
gosh, in trying to be on time to get the guys ready, i TOTALLY forgot to bring his gift out man..
man, its a surprise a blur cock like me didnt get myself or someone killed in camp sia.. =|

well well, baolai being supremely understanding that night, never skewered me with the satay stick. hahah, yes, speaking of the gift, i have to bring it out later while meeting the guys for ping pong man. LOL
chalet was alright, alot of friends from his work place and jc whom i dont know but surprisingly, i saw nelson penging satay.. kinda been a while since someone called me 'my kong' anymore.. what a small world eh.

the night was fun, with the usual bapoks at changi v. , the old favourite of the chicken chop hor fun, the rush to put parking coupons before the attendant came and yes, winning eleven!
haha daidee was definitely fun and indian poker, some people just cant be trusted hmm. hahah

no idea why, morning at changi v brought back many memories of bmt.
"hurry up, you're not dying." "open ur steps" "ey, you better fucking dont give up."
"you dying soon isit?" "later we sort it out ok?"
while the chest feels tight and each gulp of air feels insufficient and burns.

__

still it was a fun experience, hope i'd get to meet up with the old guard again..
and yes, i lied. i have questions to ask.

ballad of the red berets

fighting soldiers from the sky
fearless men who jump and die
men who mean just what they say
the brave men of the red beret

silver wings upon their chest
these are men, singapore's best
one hundred men will test today but only few
win the red beret

trained to live off nature's land
trained in combat, hand to hand
men who fight by night and day
courgae peak from the red beret

back at home, a young wife waits
her red beret has met his fate
he has died for those oppressed
leaving her with his last request
"put silver wings on my son's chest
make him one of singapore's best
he'll be a man they'll test one day
have him win the red beret."

the local adaptation of the american version.
