look ma, no L plate..
the spiffy little blue card that Traffic Police sent you came with a paper. on it, the message that 'driving, its never really just about you.' just on somehow registered as another government ad.
today, that particular message got drummed into me, loud and clear.
nevermind the embarrassment of horlanding when you're supposed to lead, nevermind i am not familiar with roads and took the early exit. nevermind, arriving later than those whom you're supposed to lead.
when you're behind the steering wheel, just do what you're supposed to do. drive. dont try to navigate especially if you're not sure yourself.
thats what vehicle commanders are for in the army.
i drove past 2 traffic lights that were in close proximity, while just taking my eyes off the road
and onto the right looking for an opening that looks familiar. it was close, traffic's light, right.
i am just damn fortunate no one strayed off, nor a pedal-pressing-happy guy from the slip road was there at them moment.
what would embarrassment mean, or being late mean, when you beat the god damn lights and kill someone, a child? a son? a parent? someone else's everything?
for goodness sake, for those lucky enough not to experience something like this or have yet to start driving, really. its never just about you. you dont have to speed to kill someone, you just have to take your eyes and mind away for that moment, and you would have succeeded.
and yes, i guess this does not apply to just recommending a friend somewhere new to eat. never ever lead with just the destination in mind, lead only when you will be there for the journey till the end of the road.
i am sorry to my friends who waited patiently and my 2 unlucky friends in the car.
thanks for being so understanding and yes, humorous.
